How to build a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck
Ok, so if your reading this article, you
want to learn how to build a good yu-gi-oh deck. So, i'm gonna list
step-by-step the procedure in which you should follow almost every time
you build a deck.
-
Pick a card, group of cards, or choose
a purpose for your deck. For example, your deck can revolve around
the Dark Magician, all spellcasters, or to burn away your opponent's
life points.
- Choose the cards necessary for this type of deck. This
isn't that hard. For a ritual deck, for example, you would need sonic
bird, senju, and any ritual card you think is powerful like relinquished
or the masked beast.
- Find cards that would support those cards. Once again,
for a ritual deck, since most of them are powerful, you may want to
add Fairy meteor crush and robbin' gobblin. You may also want to add
Magician of faith to bring back the ritual magic card so you can summon
again.
- Find cards/deck types that this type of deck are weak
against. Ritual decks are extremely weak against magic jammer, solemn
judgement, and exodia decks.
- Find cards to counter those cards. Seven tools and
solemn judgement can counter the jammers, as well as mystical space
typhoon to destroy them before they can activate them. Against exodia,
you may want to put card destruction in.
- Add what you would consider staples. This is different
for each person. In a ritual deck, you may not want to add Dark Hole,
as you would have a powerful monster out first turn probably. You may
want to add Sinister Serpent to discard for Relinquished.
- Add other powerful cards that could be strong in your
deck. In a ritual deck, you might want to add Penguin Soldier, as he
can clear the field for you to attack.
- Make a deck out of the cards you chose, keeping the
deck around the 40-50 area, as above that is too much. Remember to balance
your attack force, m/t removal, draw power, and counters.
- Playtest, playtest, playtest!
